The Klarus XT11S is an upgrade from the previous XT11 - introducing new features a brighter light and a neat two-switch design. Along with the XT11GT and other tactical flashlights in the XT series, the XT11S is another reason my Klarus is a solid brand to go with when choosing a reliable tactical flashlight.

Functionality and Design

The Klarus XT11S flashlight has 3 different switches: side, paddle and tail click.

It has a tactical bezel, side/removable clip and cigar grip.

You can cycle between the selections above by holding the side switch for 10 seconds then clicking the tail switch. It will indicate the mode your own based on the number of flashes:

  • 1 flash: Classical Tactical
  • 2 flashes: Outdoor
  • 3 flashes: Tactical Assault

The tail switch can turn the flashlight on and off. If lightly depressed, it can go momentary. The paddle switch can activate the strobe mode.

What is the XT11S flashlight’s maximum throw / beam distance?

The Klarus XT11S has a maximum throw distance of 330 meters thanks to its CREE XP-L HI V3 LED bulb. The LED is good for 50,000 hours of use.

Peak beam intensity?

This Klarus tactical flashlight model has a peak beam intensity of 27,225 candela per lumen (cd/lm).

Additional Features

  • Smart ITS temperature control system: monitors internal temperature and adjusts the output for maximum brightness while protecting the LED. It creates a large heat dissipation area spreads the heat efficiently.
  • Constant current (not PWM): helps provide a constant and stable current, preventing flashlight from flickering.

Material and Durability

Durability

The XT11S features a steel bezel design with an aircraft grade aluminum body, military III hard anodic oxidation and CNC precision machined cell - making the flashlight strong and very wear resistant.

The casing has improved drop/shock resistance with dual springs in the head and tail.

The lens is toughened and clear glass with anti-corrosion AR coating. It’d be very hard to leave significant scratches on the lens.

Impact Resistance

The XT11S tactical flashlight is very sturdy with up to 1 meter of impact reistance

Waterproof / Water-resistant

The Klarus XT11S is IPX-8 waterproof and can be submerged underwater up to 2 meters or 6 feet.

The KT11S is extremely compact and portable. For a comparison, it has a shorter length than an iPhone 6s. It’s compatible with all 1 inch diameter gun mounts.

It has a net weight of 115 grams without battery.

Battery

The XT11S is compatible with one 18650 battery or two CR123A batteries. When bought from Amazon, the bundle includes one Klarus branded 2600 mAh 18650 battery.

The side switch displays an indicator light to show the remaining charge and battery capacity:

  • Green: 70%-100%
  • Orange: 30%-70%
  • Red: Less than 30%
  • Red and Flash: Less than 10%

This Klarus flashlight offers a smart digital charging system for quick charging and overcharging protection.

The side switch also displays a light indicator for the charging or battery status:

  • Green: Fully charged
  • Red: Currently charging
  • Flashing Red: Issue with the battery or charging system

As mentioned before, the Klarus XT11S flashlight has a maximum runtime of 260 hours on low mode.

Unfortunately, the XT11S has a micro-USB port rather than the magnet one other Klarus models has. However, it can be charged with your PC, mains socket or vehicle.

The battery casing in the flashlight has dual-springs for shock resistance, and reverse battery protection in case you mix up the polarities.
