The Orion H40-W is a 500 lumen LED tactical flashlight that comes with its own unique pressure switch and rifle mount. It has a super bright, blind light and one of the better tactical flashlights in its price range.
The company is more known for their telescopes and binoculars but the H40-W can be a good example of what they can do in the tactical flashlight market.
Specifications

LED
The white color provides higher contrast detail than other flashlights with different colors - perfect for night visibility.

The Orion H40-W has a maximum runtime of approximate 75 minutes.
Throw Distance
This led tactical flashlight has a throw distance of 175 yards.
Batteries
The Orion 500 lumen light is compatible with a single 18650 battery or two CR123A batteries that are included when purchased off of Amazon.
Waterproof / Water Resistant
The H40-W flashlight is IPX7 waterproof.
Accessories
While having a pressure switch is advantageous in tactical situations, the included pressure switch unfortunately needs some additional adhesive to be secured with the weapon. Many people who own this flashlight recommend using industrial velcro as an excellent substitute.
The threading on the tail-cap also feels a bit cheap. It’s clear the quality is held back in the threading to achieve the H40-W’s price-point.
On the other hand, the rail mount is very solid and safely secured with two outer screws. The mount is perfect with rifles - not so much with handguns.
Conclusion: Our Orion H40-W Review
Overall we think that the Orion H40-W 500 lumen flashlight is very good for it’s price point. There isn’t much concrete evidence in the validity of the 500 lumen output, but it is a super bright light nonetheless.
It’s worth noting that the included tail-cap and pressure switch are not the most secured accessories - and would likely need additional work.
We would recommend the H40-W for basic home defense, airsoft and paintball guns. It would also work well as an EDC (every-day-carry) light in the house.
